An olive grove that
teaches you to breathe

Daily yoga and qigong on a deck above the valley, ink-art ateliers, harvest days in the grove next door — and Amanda & Pieter's table, mostly grown a few steps away.

A house of crystallisation

A country home reborn as a sanctuary

A mas is an old Provençal farmhouse. Kailash means "crystal" in Sanskrit — the name of Tibet's sacred mountain. In 2005 a journey around Mount Kailash gave Amanda and Pieter new direction, and in 2009 this centuries-old olive grove above Bargemon was reborn as a small centre for well-being.

What they've made is deliberately small in scale and generous in spirit: a handful of guests at a time, days shaped around movement, art and rest, and an unhurried welcome that guests describe, again and again, as feeling like family.

"Mas Kailash feels as though it has always been there — and makes you feel absolutely at one with nature."

Movement, art and healing — at your own pace

Everything is offered, nothing is imposed. Choose a full programme or simply sit on the yoga deck and watch the valley wake up.

i

Yoga & qigong

Daily morning sessions on the wooden platform, panoramic across the valley. Hatha yoga and the slow, gathering focus of qigong — warmly guided for first-timers and seasoned yogis alike.

ii

Ink-art ateliers

Chinese calligraphy and brush painting in Amanda's Sotto Voce studio. Many guests go home with their first Chinese characters framed on the wall.

iii

Jin Shin Jyutsu

An ancient Japanese healing art. Pieter shares the simple hand-holds you can carry home and use for the rest of your life.

iv

Zen massage

Deep, quiet restoration — booked into your stay whenever your body asks for it.

v

A home-grown table

Amanda's fresh sourdough, figs, home-made jams, fresh eggs, olive oil from the grove, wild fennel tea — organic and mostly from a few steps away.

Olive & Om · agri-wellness in the grove

Two generations, one sanctuary

Next door, Amanda and Pieter's daughter tends a self-sufficient olive plantation. Yoga above, olives below — the same hillside, cared for by one family.

Autumn

Harvest & mindfulness retreats

Late-summer and autumn stays built around the olive harvest: morning yoga and qigong, a few gentle hours of mindful picking, then down to the mill to taste the season's first pressing.

Every table

Tree-to-table & oil tastings

The grove's extra-virgin oil, cured olives and olive-leaf tea run through every meal, with sunset tastings that pair the oils with Provençal cheeses, herbs and honey.

Sotto Voce studio

Olive-leaf botanic art

Natural printing, sketching and dye-making with olive branches, leaves and soil pigments — Amanda's ink atelier meets the plantation.

Year-round

Adopt an olive tree

Returning guests can adopt a tree in the grove, receive a yearly bottle of its oil, and come back to a warm welcome — and a little off your next stay.

The table

Where the day begins and ends

Breakfast on the terrace as the valley lifts its mist; supper by lantern-light as it goes gold. Almost everything on the table grew a few steps from it.

Two ways to wake up in the grove

Both open onto the same view of olive trees and rolling hills — one behind French doors, one beneath a canopy of stars. Tap a photo to look closer.

Durga Room

A newly restored garden room of beautiful simplicity. Open the French doors at the foot of the bed and the mountains are right there — fall asleep with the stars, wake to the light coming up over the valley. En-suite shower; a hammock a few steps away.

Ganesh Tent

Luxury under canvas, set right in the garden among wildflowers and prayer flags. Guests write of returning each evening to candles lit outside the tent, and sleeping better than they had in years beneath a sky full of stars.
